Albri Argent
Ranger
Albri started out as a stray Tabaxi, living on the streets of Grumore. She had been an orphan urchin and survived as best as she could. Her hunting instincts started developing young, though they were mostly for chasing vermin, seeking pockets to pick, and finding easy food to swipe.
It was a difficult life, and people came and went until she was caught picking the pocket of Crovin Argent, a hunter in the Argent vampire hunter clan. He saw potential in this little stray, and he kept an eye on her after bribing her with sausage to lead him and his two compatriots through the back alleys to the lair of a fell beast that had been stalking the city. Albri proved her bravery during the encounter, and she was invited in by the Argents.
She grew and trained with them, learning the ways of the monster hunter. It took some time for her to get used to having a family, but she eventually let her guard down and became one of them. It turned out that many of the Argents were adopted: some were foundlings, some were survivors of monster attacks, others were adopted later in life after taking up the hunt themselves. Even though the family focused on ridding the world of vampires, their skills proved useful against other foul beasts and demons, and Albri got practice pitting her bow and claws against a range of creatures.
Albri was eventually entrusted with a couple of the family heirlooms: the magic quiver that generated arrows to strike a monster’s weakness, and the curious enchanted hat that could provide a variety of services to help in any situation. She had also grown accustomed to a life of plenty, though the urchin upbringing was always in her heart and she would quietly revel in gifts of fineries or the comfort of a plush bed. The life of a hunter was often hard, but it was lucrative enough that the family did well for themselves.
Albri was 31 when she was on her fateful hunt. She’d been tracking a powerful vampire lord, Lord Skralthax, slowly picking off his retinue as she forced him to flee across the land. She thought she’d had him finally cornered, but he was clever and a more powerful spellcaster than he had let on. When she made her move, she fell into his trap, and he had his revenge. She was lucky that he had decided to let her die a slow, painful death, since it gave her the opportunity to escape with the help of an angel conjured by her hat. She was mortally wounded, and her escape would have been for naught without the intervention of Thallan. He found the dying hunter and turned her in an act of mercy, though to this day, he’s been circumspect on why he was there or if he was in pursuit of the vampire lord himself.
Her turning was around 5 years ago, and she has since settled in with Thallan’s Menagerie. She’s gotten to see another side of the vampires and once again has a found family, the only kind of family she’s known. She’s loyal to Thallan and has put her skills to use in his service and to protect Night Hollow. She can’t help but have some bitterness in her undead heart for her cold existence as a vampire: she remembers and misses the small joys like a fine meal, a warm bed, and sprawling in a sunny patch.

Chester Silvercrest
Artificer Warlock
Son of a servant, raised by the noble as their own when they saw him taking things apart and putting them back together as a young child. Has had the education of a noble but not the blood and has been rejected by most polite society as a jumped up commoner. Adopted Father Parlz Silvercrest was an inventor and he gained his levels in artificer helping him along with his own projects.
The Silvercrests are an old noble family and can pretty much do what they want because they have always been given to keeping histories and solving weird and unusual mysteries of the kingdom. The crest is silver in front of a fox rampant, the fox being a thing of mystery and adventure in and of itself.
Chester bargained for an old ring in the shopping district to see if it held any interesting bits to learn about. Got it home and was cleaning it when he summoned a Djinn that offered to be his master. After a thoroughly delightful conversation about traveling in which the Djinn cajoled him with all the places he could see and mysteries he could uncover, Chester agreed and took his first steps as a warlock. Being a spellcaster as a warlock opened up new areas to research and Chester improved rapidly.
Set out when he was 35 after Parlz death with a map that was his bequeathment that led to some dwarven ruins. Was found there by the founder of the menagerie and turned after a conversation about never having enough time to study everything and learn everything the world has to offer. Has not really talked about his patron other than to say his warlock patron backed his wanting to wander too.
Lili Hammer
Barbarian
From the mist-laced wetlands of Aslyn Gulch, Lilli emerged as a fierce warrior among the grung tribes that dwell in the region’s tangled undergrowth and ancient ruins. Her bluish-purple skin, a rare hue among her kind, marked her from birth as someone touched by fate—or perhaps something darker.
Near Lilli’s 30th birhtday her life took a grim turn. During an expedition into a sunken crypt hidden beneath a local bog, she inadvertantly disturbed a slumbering vampire. The creature slaughtered the band of grung explorers and left her for dead, but its blood mingled with hers, transforming her into a creature of the night.
That was over 80 years ago, and now cursed with vampirism, Lilli walks the line between predator and protector. Her barbarian rage burns hotter than ever. She fights with primal fury, wielding a massive warhammer shaped like a lily pad, a weapon as whimsical as it is devastating. Lilli takes great joy in smashing her enemies with it, often punctuating her strikes with gleeful croaks and battle cries that echo through the swamp.
